Cubist Composition (Two Heads), 1926
Composition cubiste. Deux Têtes

Probably the first larger-scale sculpture by Giacometti in the Cubist style, the work only became known in 1991, when the original plaster from Diego Giacometti’s estate (now in the Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti, Paris) was cast in bronze. The main element is an attempt to symbolically depict the act of seeing and is a precursor of ‘Tête qui regarde’ (see GS 010).
