Head of Bruno, 1930
Tête de Bruno

The subject is Bruno, Giacometti’s youngest brother. Even during his avant-garde phase from 1925 to 1934 Giacometti created figurally representational works, especially while in Stampa. As far as his brother remembers, this is the last head that Giacometti made of him; it was created after Bruno qualified as an architect at the ETH in 1930, when he spent more time than usual in the Val Bregaglia.
