This head, made at the request of Annette Giacometti, was created posthumously and was intended as a ‘Plâtre de conservation’ or backup copy. It was cast from the initial Plasticine model using a silicon mould and documents the condition of the Plasticine model after being restored to repair damage. This piece exhibits slight deviations, particularly with respect to the hair, from the plaster works cast using a plaster piece-mould during the artist’s lifetime.
