Alberto painted this family portrait to mark his parents’ silver wedding anniversary. It shows his mother sitting in front of the house in Maloja while his father paints, his sister Ottilia brings a posy of flowers and Alberto himself is chiselling at a head; there is even room for the dog, Rigolo. Miniatures depict his absent brothers Diego, who was working in a factory in Saint-Denis at the time, and Bruno, a violinist at the school in Chur.
