Head of Diego, c. 1951
Tête de Diego

The head was probably created by making a cast of an initial clay model using a two-part negative plaster mould (lost mould). Subsequently, the entire surface was completely reworked by adding and removing plaster, and the face was painted with pencil.

No subsequent moulds were made from this plaster, meaning that it did not serve as a template for a bronze cast.
