Head with a Long Neck (Bust Hippolyte), c. 1949
Tête, long cou (Buste Hippolyte)

The bust was created by casting the initial clay model using a two-part negative plaster mould (lost mould). It was subsequently reworked by adding and removing plaster and a few strokes of red and black paint were applied to the face.

From 1955 the plaster served as a template for bronze casts made using the sand-casting method. In the foundry, a reddish sealant and talcum as a release agent were applied prior to sand casting.
