Probably Giacometti’s earliest etching, this work was intended as the frontispiece for René Crevel’s eponymous publication from 1933 (Edition du Sagittaire, Paris); it was executed in the studio of Stanley William Hayter. The idea for the image comes from the ‘Cube’ group (see GS 025 and GS 298).
