The painting always hung over the marital bed of the apartment carefully furnished by the parents in Stampa. Giovanni carved the frame with the ‘running dog’ himself, to match the old Engadin furniture that Annetta acquired at local auctions. After the father’s death, Annetta handed the parents’ room over to Alberto, who returned to Stampa for a few weeks each year.
