Head of the Artist’s Father, 1927
Tête du père
At first the head was created by making a cast of an initial clay or Plasticine model. Subsequently, Giacometti completely reworked the entire surface by adding and removing plaster. Markings probably made with red chalk are scattered across the left-hand side.
No subsequent moulds were made from this plaster, meaning that it did not serve as a template for a bronze cast.
